Grow Rio Grande corn for highly ornamental blue kernels that can be dried and ground into blue corn flour. The tall plants grow one to two long, slender ears that can reach 30cm (12″) long. These have up to 18 rows of dark blue kernels that contain higher levels of protein and antioxidants than standard corn. They also have a lower glycemic index. This old heirloom originated in the Rio Grande Pueblos of New Mexico.
Matures in 90 to 100 days. (Open-pollinated seeds)
