This plant could be described as the foxglove of the Middle East. Fritillaria persica is native to the eastern Mediterranean to Iran (hence ‘persica’), but is hardy to Zone 4, so it can take pretty cold weather. In spring a small crown of mid-green leaves emerge followed by a tall flower spike covered in downward pointing purple/brown flowers with a very appealing scent. The plants are deer-resistant and the stems make good cut flowers. One bulb per package.
